This past 18 months have been hectic to say the least. Within this time we have gone through the home building process with everything from purchasing the property to designing and building our new home in my beloved home town of Mudgee. We’ve chosen everything down to the last detail. From the the layout and placements, to the colour scheme and furnishings. I mean, who knew there were so many shades of white?
When Joe and I sat down and thought about what the “dream home” looked like for us, we agreed that we were inspired by the timeless beauty of Australian settlers homes. However, we wanted a twist of contemporary and a touch of mediterranean influence. Time will of course tell once all the gardens are established, however build wise, it’s something I think it’s something we have achieved! With a number of porches that set the foundations for grape vines to climb, oak flooring that flows throughout the home, and a kitchen island engulfed by country mosaic tiling, it’s all come together as our cosy abode.
Of course none of this would have been made possible without our fabulous builders, Lynch Building. Ant and his team have been absolutely fabulous, making the process as magical and seemless as possible. And as of last week, we finally received the keys to our build, and we couldn’t be happier!
I’ve been reminded how truly spectacular this place is every morning i’ve awoken here thus far. As I momentarily sit on my verandah writing this post, I can hear the mooing of Hereford cattle unify with chirping cicadas. As the afternoon breeze scents the air with eucalyptus I look up to gaze upon the sprawling vineyard that now neighbours my yard. The same one that grew the grapes and fermented them into the riesling that I am now sipping. I couldn’t feel more grateful and content if I tried.
I think it’s safe to say we still have lots of do before our home establishes its charm; Fencing, landscaping, and planting have been taking up all my spare time. But I have a vision that will hopefully will come to life by Spring this year! I can’t wait to finally put my homely flare on this new canvas, and of course share it with you.
