I’m sure i’m not alone when I say traditional Greek is one of my all time favourite cuisines in the World! Fresh, healthy and filled with flavour, it’s something I can’t get enough of.
You may also be pleasantly surprised to know that Melbourne has the largest Greek population outside of Greece and Cyprus! This means that Melbourne city is absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to some mouthwatering Greek cuisine. But there is one restaurant in particular that sets itself apart from the rest in Australia’s foodie capital.
Agapi restaurant can be found in one of Melbourne’s inner city suburbs, Richmond. The first thing you will notice is the exposed-brick walls, nisiotika music and white tablecloths, making for a rustic, homely atmosphere. Furthermore, the taste of traditional cuisine and the sound of Greek accents elevates the restaurants authenticity, transporting you all the way to Athens itself!
With a gorgeous menu that flaunts the best of Greece, it’s hard to choose where to start. From saganaki and grilled octopodi as starters, to moussaka and yemista for a main, all exude delicious flavours inspired by the mediterranean region and Greek beaches. Agapi even goes as far as serving ouzo and mythos, which I haven’t drank anywhere other than Greece.
Whilst the restaurant provides an intimate setting perfect for a date night or private meal, it equally exudes a fun and family orientated ambiance where a banquet can be shared with family and friends alike.
If you’re wanting to experience this incredible place for yourself, make a booking now, and enjoy your taste of Greece!
