Slowfox Wines is one of my favourite cellar doors to visit. Flaunting the perfect combination of homey Australian and charming mediterranean, its rustic edge and intimate atmosphere makes for the perfect place to sit back and enjoy their American and French inspired wines.
My favourite time to visit the Slowfox Wines is during the spring and summer. This time of year really show cases the olive and plum trees that shade the mix-matched furniture, illustrating what county living is all about. But most importantly, really makes it easy to cool off from the Mudgee heat and indulge in the gorgeous wine menu on offer. Furthermore, there is a playground for children, and well behaved dogs are welcome, making for a perfect family outing too.
The small-batch winery grows all of its wines within their seven hectare vineyard and once hand picked from their vines, the grapes are pressed on site before being fermented utilising a combination of American and French oak barrels, a note that the wines consistently carry through all ranges. Slowfox is truly dedicated to their local consumers, and therefore is sold mainly in within stores and restaurants in the Mudgee region, along with its cellar door. This wholesome factor really shows how much dedication to each batch is cared for as opposed to being factory operated. Whether it be the award winning Malbec, Bordeaux styled blend of Cabernet and merlot, or a fresh and light balanced Viogner, it makes for a unique, but incredible tasting to experience. On certain days, you can also pair your wines with a beautiful cheese board.
If you’re looking for that quiet country ambiance, great wines in a casual setting, then call in on your next visit to Mudgee!
