Mudgee; a quintessential Australian country town known for its rolling hills, rustic charm and of course, its delicious wines. The wine region is located four hours West from Sydney’s CBD and makes for the perfect place to escape the concrete jungle and indulge in breathtaking views all whilst enjoying a tasting… or ten.
I’m also fortunate enough to have Mudgee as my home town and since moving back home after living abroad, i’ve gained a massive appreciation for all it offers. I also have insights of the best places, many in which tourists are oblivious to. One of them being Logan Wines.
Logan Wines is known for its fresh fruit flavours, all whilst embodying European- style balance and finesse. And although their old-world wines are nothing short of fabulous, they’ve recently been awarded the worlds best new-world riesling from Germany itself. If that’s not enough to pull you in, then the contemporary architecture and soaring views will be.
Here’s what to expect!
When to visit Logan Wines
Mudgee is known for its dry hot summers and cold winters, therefore I recommend visiting in the Autumn and Spring months. These times of year not only boasts an idyllic climate, perfect for lazing in the sun and enjoying wine from the vineyards decking, but also flaunts natures vivid colours and blooms.
Although Logan Wines greets walk in visitors with welcome arms, there are times of the year that are busier than others. If you do have this fabulous winery on your bucket list and aren’t up to fighting the crowds, it’s a great idea to book a table here. Furthermore, Logans is dog friendly… what more can you ask for?
Wine tasting at Logan Wines
Once seated, you will be welcomed with a glass of sparking cuvee, along with a wine list. There are two wine lists to choose from; The Logan curated range which costs $10 a person, and the Logan exceptional range, which costs $20 a person. This fee is waived however, with the purchase of two bottles of wine at the end of the tasting.
We went for the exceptional range which was composed of three white wines, followed by three reds, with each product being beautifully described by the servers. I have tried the majority of Mudgee Wines however, Logan Wines is possibly one of the few local wines where EVERY single one were huge hits. There wasn’t any that I didn’t love. All of these can be enjoyed while being engulfed by the rolling green countryside and sprawling vineyards from the decking, or the glass walled dining area.
Tastings are offered for groups up to 12 people. However, if there’s more than six people, you will only be eligible to taste the curated range. If you do happen to have more than 12, you can still purchase a glass or bottle of wine and enjoy the truly beautiful ambiance.
If you’re feeling peckish, theres a number of mouth watering food on offer. My recommendation being the cheese board which costs $35, serving 2-3 people.
Enjoy!
