Esperance is home to some Australia’s best beaches! In fact many of these beaches have been ranked number one in the world at one point or another. Boasting some of the whitest sand and bluest water in Australia, the beaches of Esperance are an outdoor lovers dream!
It may be hard to know where to start when it comes to finding the best beaches in the whole region, but I was recently privileged enough to visit almost all of them! Here are my favourite six beaches of Esperance!
Cape Le Grand National Park beaches
1. Hellfire Bay
Hellfire Bay was one of my favourite beaches in Esperance (and the Cape Le Grand National Park). Surrounded by rolling hills dotted with native flora and porcelain coloured sand, it’s the perfect place to take a dip, or even a surf within the gorgeous pristine waters that it boasts so well.
Hellfire Bay is named after St Elmo’s fire, A blush flame that sometimes occurs above ships masts, the name electric colour as the shores waters.

2. Thistle Cove
Thistle Cove resides between the two most popular beaches, Hellfire and Lucky Bay.
The stunning beach is engulfed by rugged rock formations, hiking tracks and an abundance of striking plant species in which contrast the blue waters below.
The stunning bay is also a great place to admire and capture some photos of kangaroos and wallabies alike who take to the beach in the early morning and evenings. Unlike its iconic neighbour, Lucky Bay, Thistle bay tends to be lesser known making for an up close and special experience.

3. Lucky Bay
Lucky Bay is possibly the most iconic beach out of all of Experience. Boasting electric blue waters and rugged coastline. 5kms of white sand brims the shore, making for a perfect place to go 4×4 driving and admiring the incredible wildlife, whether it be kangaroos hopping on the sand or whales waving their tails from the depths of the Great Australian bite during migration.

4. Blue Haven Beach
Blue Haven Beach is one of many beaches that borders Great Ocean Drive in the sea side town of Esperance. Located at the bottom of rugged cliffs, the beach is perfect for surfing and snorkelling around the headland where vibrant fish that are all colours of the rainbow can be found.
Marine life such as whales, dolphins and sharks can be observed at the right time of the year from the cliffs above, a truly magical experience and anyone to watch.

5. Duke of Orleans Bay
We stumbled across Duke of Orleans Bay by mistake, and I’m so glad we did! Found approximately 50 minutes drive East from Esperance, the beach is situated perfectly to watch the suns rays set over the Indian Ocean, turning everything it touches golden.
It is one of the most picturesque and uncrowded wilderness playgrounds in Australia. Whether it be 4x4ing, surfing, swimming or fishing, this is the perfect place to sit back and relax.

6 Wylie Bay
Wylie Bay is located 30 minutes out of Esperance. This area is heavy is activities due to also boasting a large sand dune area for those who enjoy thrill seeking.
Wylie head beach attracts many photographers and beach goers from around the world due to its large sand embankment in which waves from either side foam and collide with one another, making for a spectacular phenomena to enjoy.
