It’s been scorching here in Aus this past week. But after battling the 40 degree heat all week, I decided that it was about time to brush off the esky, bring out the togs and slip slop slap some sunscreen onto my patchy sun kissed skin.
We head out of town and into the scrub, driving on red dirt until we reached the local National Park. It’s my favourite place in the world! Not does this location home some of the most exotic flora and friendly wildlife, but it also engulfs a fresh swimming waterhole that can only be compared to heaven.
It wasn’t long before I had ripped my clothing off and wandered into the glistening waters, wading into the depths after tackling myself out of some reads (it was worth it).
There’s something about wild swimming that makes me feel calm and connected with nature. From the fish that dart around in the waters below my feet, to the kookaburras that laugh in the aromatic eucalyptus forrest, it’s a feeling i’m yet to find anywhere else.
I stayed in the cooling water well after my hands and feet wrinkled.

It wasn’t long before we had worked up quite the appetite.
we laid down the picnic blanket amongst the scented flora, rolled out the esky and set up a make shift cheese platter accompanied with some seeded crackers and a good old cool beer.
It went down a treat in case you were wondering…

After happily finishing out picnic, we packed up our gear back into the ute and head for a bush walk. I’ve done this walk thousands of time, but i’m always amazed at the sheer beauty. Dotted with gorgeous flowers, unique landmarks and scenic views, today was a nice day to re-connect to home and enjoy the small things that are often taken for granted.
